On 29 September 2026, our paper entitled "XTRUDE: A Process-Informed Framework for High-Fidelity Analysis of Hydrogel Extrusion" was published in Advanced Functional Materials. Led by Farhad Sanaei (PhD Candidate), the study introduces XTRUDE, a platform that measures hydrogel properties in situ as they flow through process-relevant geometries. Across monolithic, thermosensitive, and granular hydrogels, XTRUDE revealed flow instabilities and batch-to-batch differences that conventional rheology did not detect. We see this framework as a step toward more reliable formulation development for bioprinting, injectable therapeutics, and soft material manufacturing. We are looking forward to building further on this patent-pending technology. Congratulations to our lab member Farhad Sanaei for leading this work, and to all the co-authors for their invaluable contributions!
